Turn on the White Noise Maker For Your Toddler

Toddlers can be fussy sometimes when you're trying to help them go beddy-bye for a variety of reasons.

In my household, I've found the answer to every parent's dream of being able to get their child to sleep - almost at will!

The answer lies in turning on a white noise maker in your toddler's room before even entering that specific room at bedtime.

You see, in a quiet room, outside noises can easily seep in and disturb a toddler trying to go to sleep. Regardless of how tired your toddler is, if the older brother is watching Spongebob Squarepants at 8:30 in the evening even at a low to moderate volume, your toddler's brain activity might liven up again, causing a restless start to what needs to be a good night's sleep!

Voila! Enter the white noise maker, or the the white noise machine as it's also commonly called, and the outside noise is drowned out by the machine's soothing, consistent white noise which is similar to listening to the ocean waves continually crashing into the shore, only much smoother!

There are actually companies who have capitalized on this old phenomenon by offering white noise CD's for sale; these are much more inexpensive than actual white noise makers, and some are even more effective with other soothing sounds added into the white noise mixture as well.

Whatever method you choose, make sure you start out with a comfortable volume at first for your toddler, until he or she becomes accustomed to hearing the sound. Then, increase slightly with each passing night until you hit on a comfortable volume.

Oh - I almost forgot! You can use a white noise maker during nap time, too!
